Vitalik Buterin's X Account Hacked, Resulting in $691K+ in Losses: X Users Report

Dmitry Buterin, Vitalik's father, took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce a security breach on his son's X account. As per social media reports, this breach led to a collective loss exceeding $691,000 for unsuspecting users who fell prey to malicious links.

On September 9, the announcement was made by Dmitry Buterin, revealing the compromise of his son's account:

The initial post, which has since been deleted, had been shared on Buterin's account and claimed to celebrate the arrival of "Proto-Danksharding" on the Ethereum network, as reported by cointelegraph.com.

The hacker, operating from Vitalik's account, cunningly circulated a fraudulent link, promising a free commemorative non-fungible token (NFT) to those who connected their wallets. Tragically, this deceptive ploy resulted in the theft of all the victims' crypto assets.

Blockchain investigator ZachXBT has been diligently updating his 438,200 followers regarding the hacker's actions.
